On the evening of October 21, Wang Yi¡¯ou, secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee; Li Aiwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and mayor of Yueyang City; and, Li Zhi, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and first secretary of the Party Working Committee of Chenglingji New Port Area, met with a delegation including Wang Bingsheng, honorary chairman of Taiwan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, honorary president of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, and CEO of Agio. The delegation was here to attend the Yueyang Electronic Information and Modern Agricultural Industrial Matchmaking Conference, part of the 15th Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy, Trade & Culture.

The two sides exchanged views on strengthening connection and deepening cooperation.

Development is the theme of the times, and win-win outcomes are the bedrocks of cooperation. Yueyang and Taiwan enjoy a long history of cultural exchanges, and have achieved fruitful results in economic and trade cooperation. Since the first Taiwan-funded enterprise settled in Yueyang in 1989, a majority of Taiwanese businessmen have invested and started business in Yueyang for more than 30 years. Especially in recent years, Yueyang and Taiwan have expanded cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, technology, and education. Taiwanese businessmen have become an important force in promoting the high-quality development of Yueyang.

Wang Yi¡¯ou made a speech at the reception dinner. After a brief introduction of the city¡¯s overall situation, he said that Yueyang and Taiwan have close ties and extensive business connections. This year, Yueyang has successfully been approved as a national-level cross-Strait industrial cooperation zone. This marked that cooperation between the two sides has entered a new stage. Wang said, ¡°We sincerely hope that everyone will take the meeting as the opportunity to further enhance exchanges and deepen cooperation, work together to promote economic and social integration of Hunan and Taiwan, and create a new model for cooperation between Hunan and Taiwan.¡±
