Yueyang Strives to Develop Elderly Care Industry

Yueyang City has established a new pattern of elderly care services, developed the elderly care service industry, and improved the quality of elderly care services. This has enabled more than 1 million Yueyang elderly people to enjoy a convenient and comfortable life.

During the ¡°13th Five-Year Plan¡± period, Yueyang government has invested 340 million yuan in the building of comprehensive elderly care service facilities. There were 25 newly renovated or expanded regional central nursing homes and 10 social welfare homes. The city¡¯s elderly care service beds reached 44,800. The public welfare framework of ¡°one county, one rest-home¡± has basically taken shape.

At the beginning of this year, Yueyang government included ¡°achieving full coverage of township (neighborhood) demonstration centers for elderly care service¡± into the government's key livelihood practices. It has initiated construction, renovation, and expansion of 131 elderly care service centers. Ninety percent of the target has been completed. Documents such as ¡°Measures to Promote the High-quality Development of Elderly Care Services¡± and ¡°Measures for the Implementation of Special Subsidies for Social Elderly Care Services¡± have been issued to establish a ¡°1 Plus X¡± policy guarantee system for elderly care services.
