The 2017 provincial evaluation symposium for CPC committees and governments regarding poverty alleviation efforts was held in Changsha on January 4, 2018. Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe attended and gave a report on poverty reduction efforts in Hunan for 2017.

CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary Wu Lan presided. Vice Governor Sui Zhongcheng, CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee Vice Chairman Dai Daojin, and Hunan Provincial Government Secretary General Wang Qun also attended. Inspection team leader Zhang Jizhong delivered a speech.

The inspection team, as required by the State Council¡¯s Poverty Alleviation and Governance Group, would conduct an in-depth examination of 5 counties and districts in Hunan.

Governor Xu said, "In 2017, Hunan Province implemented the national government¡¯s decisions. It assumed responsibility for reducing poverty, addressed problems solving, reduced poverty, quickened development, and focused on impoverished areas." "There are about 1.4 million rural poor in 2,700 villages, 5 national-level counties, and 7 provincial-level counties who emerged from poverty this year and are ready for evaluation." He added.
