Yueyang to Host 2022 Hunan Province Games

The 13th Hunan Province Games concluded on September 14. Yueyang athletes won 76 gold medals in total, making a record high. 
 
The next Hunan Province Games will be held in Yueyang in 2022. At the closing ceremony, CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee Deputy Secretary and Yueyang Mayor Li Aiwu took over the games flag from Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau Director Li Shun. Mayor Li waved the flag, and extended invitations to all the people around Hunan for the 2020 games.

A dragon boat dance was staged and a 5-minute-long promotion video introduced at the ceremony, to showcase the history and culture, social development, and the city image of Yueyang as the next host city. The words of ˇ°2020, Welcome to Yueyangˇ± were displayed on the large screen at the end.

Yueyang Vice Mayor Li Wei also attended the closing ceremony.

The Hunan Province Games is held every four years. Between 1959 and 2018, the event was successively hosted by Changsha, Xiangtan, Shaoyang, Changde, Yongzhou, Yiyang, Zhuzhou, and Hengang. The 14th Hunan Province Games will be held in August and September 2022. The estimated participants from 15 delegations all over the province will reach 18,000.
