Canadian Delegation Visits Yueyang to Strengthen Cooperation

On June 28, Mr. Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, led a delegation to visit Yueyang. The delegation was here to establish friendship relationship with Yueyang and carry out cooperation and exchanges. Xiong Lixin, chairman of the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Canada, and heads from the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, Yueyang Commerce Bureau, Yueyang Bureau of Tourism, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Chenglingji New Port Area accompanied the delegation on the tour.

Newfoundland and Labrador is a province located in the northeast of Canada. The province is composed of the island of Newfoundland and a region called Labrador. It is the newest of Canada¡¯s 10 provinces and is abundant in forest, fishery products, oil, and natural gas.

Mr. Christopher and his delegation visited Yueyang Tower Scenic Area, New Port Area Wharf, Daodaoquan Grain and Oil Co., Ltd., Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Robot Exhibition Hall, port platform, comprehensive bonded area and related companies, to learn more about Yueyang's tourism resource, tourism project development, and operation of ¡°one zone, one port and four designated ports¡±. At the exchange meeting, the two sides conducted in-depth discussion on how to achieve complementarity and win-win results in port construction and operations, investment, trade, and tourism. Both sides agree that the establishment of sister port relationship between Yueyang¡¯s Chenglingji Port and Newfoundland¡¯s St. John¡¯s Port will provide lots of cooperative opportunities for both.
