2018 Hunan (Yueyang) Crayfish Industry Expo Opens

The 2018 Hunan (Yueyang) Crayfish Industry Expo and the Crayfish Tasting kicked off on June 26. Li Aiwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and mayor, attended and announced the opening of the Expo. Xiong Wei, CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee Standing Committee member and United Front Work Department director chaired the opening ceremony. Municipal leaders including Ma Na, Chen Zhilian, and Li Siqing, and Yueyang Municipal People's Government secretary general Liu Chunhan attended.

Mayor Li said that Yueyang is known as the “land of fish and rice” and has always been a good place for crayfish production. Li continued, “In recent years, we have vigorously developed crayfish industry based on our rich natural resources. Currently we have built 5 demonstration zones to raise crawfish and rice alternately in the paddy field, with a cultivation area of 452,000 mu (30,133 ha.). The annual output exceeded 50,000 tons, 80% of which are sold all over the country.
